DESCRIPTION
Details
Originally a 1998 Rover Mini Cooper, this Mini was fully restored in 2015 by Woodbridge Classic Cars at which time it was sympathetically backdated to look like a MK1 998cc Austin Cooper.
Prior to the restoration the car was finished in red and had approximately 54,000 miles recorded.
According to the paperwork contained within the history file the work carried out by Woodbridge Classic Cars was an exhaustive nut and bolt restoration, and to give you an indication of the depth of work carried out we have listed below some highlights from the invoices contained within the history file.
BODY WORK
Strip all components from shell
Paint strip all panels to bare metal
Remove historic traces of underseal & waxoil in preparation for seam blasting
Deliver and collect shell from bead blasting
Supply new subframe – seam weld for strength and finish – Zinc prime and paint

De-skin doors and bead blast frames
Carry Out lower frame repairs and hang / align doors
Remove A Panels to allow door gaps to be achieved
Zinc prime inner door skins and fit to frames incorporating sound deadening pads
Carry out lamp conversion to MK1 Style rear lamps
Remove out sill covers and fix additional reinforcing to inside sill section
Fit new sills with additional flutes for strength
Dress Body and repair holes left by original wheel arches
Strengthen front A panel to wing joints
Fit new rear valance
MECHANICAL WORK
+060 overbore with new pistons and rings
Full gasket set
Crankshaft grind to first undersize
Heavy duty tri metal bearings
Swiftune SW5-07B Mpi camshaft with new followers
Full Cylinder head reconditioning
Full Gear Box reconditioning
Standard high ration 2.7: final drive
Polished alloy rocker cover
Refinish engine in green enamel.
Finished in period dove grey and sitting of a set of 10” minilite style wheels the cars stance is perfect whilst the chrome bumpers with corner overriders, chrome bullet wing mirrors, period Austin moustache grill, small tail lights and flip down rear numberplate holder complete the period look perfectly.
The interior has also been backdated to match the exterior and looks period correct with black vinyl seats, 3 pod dash with classic large central speedometer and a three spoke motalita leather steering wheel.
As with all Mini’s its great fun to drive and far faster than standard. The 1330cc engine starts readily thanks to its modern running gear with fuel injection (no choke on this one) and pulls hard through every gear whilst sounding fantastic through its sports exhaust with plenty of pops and crackles on the overrun.
Overall the car remains in excellent condition, despite the restoration being carried out over 10 years ago and turns head and raises smiles everywhere it goes.
Before delivery we will service the car and carry out a fresh MOT.
Great fun at a fraction of the cost of an original.
