DESCRIPTION

We are pleased to present this 1997 Mini Cooper Mark VII finished in Flame Red over a tan vinyl interior. The seventh and final generation of the iconic original Mini Cooper was introduced in 1996, with the final model being produced in 2000. This 1997 example is believed to have been imported in the early 2000s, and was acquired by its current owner in 2016 in Illinois. The car comes fitted with a burled walnut dashboard, quad driving lights, an upgraded inline 4-cylinder engine, and the ‘Sportspack’ which adds 13” alloy wheels, fender flares, and a tighter steering rack. This Mini is now being offered for sale by its owner out of Massachusetts.

This Mini comes finished in Flame Red with white hood stripes and a white roof. The seller notes that the finish shows a few small blemishes throughout, and a small scratch on the trunk lid. Additional images can be found in the gallery. Details include polished alloy hood vents, quad driving lights, fender flares, a chrome gas filler cap, and 13” Minilite style alloy wheels. The wheels come dressed in a set of Yokohama A048R, which are said to have been installed approximately five years ago.

The seventh generation Mini can be identified by its full length dashboard. This example features Corbeau seats upholstered in tan vinyl with matching door panels, carpets, and a burled walnut dashboard. The seller notes that the cabin remains nicely preserved, while the wood dashboard shows hairline cracking in the clearcoat. Details include a suede Sabelt steering wheel, drilled alloy pedal covers, alloy door pulls, release handles and window cranks, and Autometer water temperature and oil pressure gauges. The floors and firewall have been covered with a removable layer sound deadening, as well as butyl sound deadening mats.

Power comes from an inline 4-cylinder engine that was rebuilt approximately 3k miles ago. The rebuild included bore honing, new valves, springs and guides, ARP connecting rod bolts and head studs, a performance camshaft, a custom cold-air intake and exhaust system, alloy rockers, a fully programmable fuel injection system, surfacing of the engine block, and polishing of the crankshaft journals. The front wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed manual transmission with a shortened 3.2:1 final drive and an upgraded X-Pin differential. Braking is handled by Wilwood 4-piston front calipers, and the suspension has been upgraded with a coil spring conversion and twin adjustable dampers. The seller notes that under their care the car has been serviced with Sthal Motorsports and Orbit Racing.

Representing the final generation of the original Mini Cooper, this tastefully upgraded and well looked after example is not to be missed!
