DESCRIPTION
This 1997 Rover Mini Cooper was first sold by John Cooper Garages in the United Kingdom and is #31 equipped with their Si Conversion kit, which saw the fuel-injected 1.3L inline-four fitted with an upgraded cylinder head along with a K&N induction kit and Maniflow exhaust system.
Imported to Spain circa 2012, the car was subsequently converted to left-hand-drive. It is finished in metallic blue with a white roof panel featuring a power-operated folding fabric roof and is further equipped with quad Hella driving lights, Sport Pack–style wheel arch extensions, Minilite style 13″ wheels, and front disc brakes.
The interior has black leather upholstery, an airbag steering wheel, and an Alpine Bluetooth stereo. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2025, this Mk VII Mini Cooper is now offered in Spain with factory literature and Spanish registration.
Said to have been repainted under previous ownership, the car is finished in metallic blue with a white roof, mirror caps, and John Cooper signature hood stripes.
Exterior details include a power-operated folding fabric roof, quad Hella driving lights, Sport Pack–style wheel arch extensions, and dual center-exit exhaust tips along with Cooper badging and a John Cooper Garages rear-window decal. Missing paint can be seen on the scuttle panel behind the hood.
Minilite-style 13″ alloy wheels are mounted with 175/50 Yokohama A539 tires. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes, and the selling dealer reports that the car is equipped with an adjustable suspension.
The cabin was converted to left-hand-drive in Spain. The front seats feature Mini Cooper–embossed accents in the seatback and are trimmed in black leather with ivory piping, which extends to the rear bench. A cabin heater, cellphone holder, and an Alpine Bluetooth stereo are additional features.
An airbag steering wheel is paired with a KAD gearshift knob. The wheel frames a tachometer and a 110-mph speedometer separated by a combination gauge, while auxiliary instrumentation is centrally mounted in the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 79k miles.
Conversion number 97-S-031 appears on a plaque mounted below the front passenger seat.
The multi-point injection (MPi) 1.3L A-series inline-four features the following components from the John Cooper Si Conversion kit:
* Polished and ported cylinder head fitted with larger inlet valves
* Finned aluminum rocker cover
* K&N induction kit
* Maniflow long-center-branch (LCB) manifold and exhaust system
Power is sent to the front wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
ecoding the VIN provides the following information:
SAX – MG-Rover
XN – Mini 1300
N – Cooper
A – Two-door sedan
Z – 1300 MPi (high compression ratio, 10.1:1)
