DESCRIPTION
Here's 'Bernie'. Once described as a cross between Mario Kart and Mad Max, my Rover Mini Flame Edition is a well-presented example of the limited-edition modern classic city car, which has been enhanced with tasteful performance and cosmetic upgrades.
Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 1,293cc inline-four, driving the front wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
The five-digit odometer shows 52,679 miles, however this is not warranted and there is no service history. The Flame Edition is understood to be one of only 1,000 examples produced.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
As with all Flame Editions, this example is finished in the vibrant hue of Flame Red with a contrasting gloss-white roof, and unique coachline decals. Inside, the cabin features black and ‘Crayon’ patterned cloth upholstery, with black vinyl door cards, and black leather-trimmed front bucket seats.
It rides on an aftermarket set of 13-inch Ultralite Minilite split-rim alloy wheels finished in gold with polished lips, which are shod in Nankang AS-1 tyres.
The factory specification includes a heated rear windscreen, manually operated windows, and heater and ventilation controls.
Externally, this example now features LED ‘halo’ headlights, and flared and widened wheel arches. Inside, the cabin has been upgraded with aluminium door card furniture, an aluminium Cooper gear knob, and an aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth connectivity, USB, and auxiliary inputs (NOTE - no speakers currently wired in)
The original 1,275cc inline-four engine has been bored-out to 1,293cc, and upgraded with an aluminium radiator and rocker cover, as well as an aftermarket exhaust system.
The car is accompanied by all the maintenance invoices from my ownership.
SERVICE HISTORY
The most recent maintenance was carried out in April 2023 at an indicated 53,500 miles by The Real Mini Company Wallingford, which consisted of the alternator being replaced, a new fan belt, the broken radiator fan replaced, a new indicator unit and fuse box, the clocks removed, and the printed circuit board replaced.
The engine earth, battery, starter motor, hazard switch plug and relay flasher were replaced in December 2022.
Major maintenance was performed in October 2022, which consisted of new front and rear shock absorbers being fitted, the exhaust mounts replaced, new bearings fitted to the radius arms, new rear copper brake lines, new nearside front and rear wheel bearings, new number plate bulbs, washer bottle, boot seal, clutch master cylinder, clutch arm, push rod and pins, the rear ride height lowered, the rear drum brakes cleaned, a new heater matrix and outlet pipes fitted, and a new heater valve.
