DESCRIPTION

1987 Mini Mayfair For Sale

Up for sale is my 1987 Mini Mayfair, I bought it as a non-running project earlier in the year, it had some good upgraded mechanical parts with it when I bought it, but was missing most of the interior and the engine was in bad shape, I’ve got everything up and running and is now set up as a bit of a fast road/race mini.

The mini is set up on standard height spax coilovers, so has had the cones removed. Also has a 4 wheel KAD disc brake conversion, These were fitted by the previous owner but never actually run on the car ( Coilovers were £500 & Brakes were £1500) uprated and adjustable lower arms and tie rod on the front, new ball joints, new track rod ends.

Previously had a metro 1275 fitted, but this has been replaced with a 1293 cc A+ Minispeed engine, bigger valve head, double valve springs, 276 camshaft, ARP head bolts, 3.1 gearbox. Running a single SU carb. It had new engine mounts when it was fitted, new alternator and a fletcher aluminium rad and hoses. All fluids were flushed and changed when the engine was fitted. It has previously been on a rolling road and made 81 bhp and 65 lbs/ft of torque but would probably benefit from being tuned on a rolling road again.

The car has a fibreglass flip front, with the correct support bars to pass an MOT, makes it a lot easier to work on but isn’t to everyone’s taste. I have the top section of the grill but it needs some modification to fit to the flip front. If it sells for near the asking price I have a set of heritage front wings and front panel than I can include as my plan was to build a steel flip front for it. It has been de-seamed on the rear and had the rear bumper removed.

Interior has been soundproofed and then had new carpet fitted, and had a good second hand set of seats and doorcards fitted (same style that the car came with) black with red trim and red seatbelts. Has had a brand new dash panel fitted for 3 gauges in the centre although only has one fitted at the moment. Has speaker pods fitted under the dash and in the parcel shelf with a working cd/radio. At some point in its history the gauge cluster has been changed so the mileage doesn’t match. Has a Momo steering wheel fitted.

MOT until April 2023. Brake pipe has been replaced which was on the MOT. The only other advisory was some play in the rear suspension arm which I haven’t replaced as I was going to replace the rear subframe with a beam axle as it doesn’t need the full subframe with the coilover set up, so was going to change it at that point, but it’s never happened.

Running 13” minilites with two new front tyres. Mini is near Ammanford South Wales, I love the mini but am looking to buy a classic clubman van/estate so the dogs can come along with me for the ride so will px/deal if you have one of these available.
