DESCRIPTION
1978 Mini Clubman 1100 now 1380 cc. This Mini has been professionally rebuilt based on a new Heritage body shell. Heritage supplied the new body shell as well as new front and rear subframe assemblies all built up with the parts.
The cost of the shell and subframes was £6000 back in 2008 but would cost £12000 in todays money.
The shell and subframes as well as a donor Mini 1100 clubman was given to a mini specialist for them to rebuild the car with all new and refurbished parts.
The cost from the mini specialist was £29792.00 plus the shell and subframes put the build cost at £36000, plus the cost of the donor mini.
The shell was painted in Jensen grey with a black roof which still looks stunning today. It was then fitted with 1275 GT decals and new chrome work.
The interior looks fantastic with 1275 GT basket weave seats, new carpets, walnut dashboard, oil pressure, volts and time clocks.
It has an Alpine CD radio with Bluetooth and DAB. It has an immobiliser which requires cancelling before you can start the engine.
The windows are electric and work very well. It is great to be able to put the passenger window down from the drivers seat.
It has twin fuel tanks and an electric fuel pump.
The wheels are Rose Petal on recent Yokohama A008 tyres. The suspension is all adjustable for height and damping.
It has Avo adjustable shocks, 7.9 inch vented front disc brakes with alloy KAD 4 pot callipers and Minifins on the rear, all servo assisted.
The engine is 1380 cc with a 276 camshaft and 3;1 final drive and a HIF 44 carburettor. It has a 4 core alloy radiator and oil cooler with electric fan.
The mini has covered around 2500 mile since completion and has always been garaged.
The end result is a professionally built mini at great cost with a Heritage Body giving complete peace of mind.
Due to it being completed 14 years ago it has had time to bed-in and the body work still looks immaculate.
It drives very well and pulls strongly to the speed limit! It is a fast road ‘old school’ mini and will appeal to a classic car owner who is happy with the more basic appeal of an older mini.
It is happier on the open road than in town, due to the fast road cam meaning that the engine runs at its best when over 2500 rpm.
